Abstract The aim of this study was to analyze the average heats, semifinal, and final times of male and female swimmers at the Paris Summer Olympic Games. The investigation focused on 16 female and 16 male finalists in the 100 m and 200 m butterfly and breaststroke events. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 26.00, with significance set at p < 0.05. The normality of the data was confirmed via the Shapiro-Wilk test. Paired sample t-tests were used to compare mean times between rounds for male and female swimmers.  Results showed that statistically significant differences in butterfly event times between qualifying and semifinal rounds for female swimmers, and between qualifying, semifinal, and final rounds for male swimmers (p<0.05). In breaststroke, significant differences were found between qualifying and semifinal rounds for male swimmers in the 100 m event, and between qualifying and semifinal rounds for females, as well as qualifying, semifinal, and final rounds for males in the 200 m event (p<0.05). In conclusion, significant variations were identified in qualifying, semifinal, and final times for both male and female swimmers in butterfly and breaststroke events at the Paris Summer Olympics. Additionally, swimmers tended to achieve their fastest times in the first laps and slower times in the final laps of 100 m and 200 m races.
